Kumar's Residence, Dhanbad

This seven bedroom bungalow at the foothills of Dhangi Hill, Dhanbad has been designed in accordance with the Vastu Sastra as per our client's requirement. This Project was particularly challenging in terms of space management. The site was 3200 sq.ft. on which we had to design a residence with 7 bedrooms, 4 Toilets, 1 Kitchen, 1 Pantry, 1 Puja Room, 1 large Dining Area, 1 Drawing Room, 1 Living Room, 1 Meeting Room, 1 Garage and a Terrace, the list was extensive.

We manage to put a very function plan with all the requirements, on top we had managed to provide personal walk-in closets attached to three rooms and a nice utility area under the staircase. We had provided a large balcony attached to the terrace in the front. Cantilevered floor slabs helped us to keep the facade open without any vertical element restricting the vision on the upper floor and similarly on the ground floor, we kept the garage and entry passage open. Doing so helped us to increase the depth of the front psychologically. The open space in the front feels considerably large with this approach.

The Exterior walls were kept very simple in terms of material and colour palette, Instead, we have used various small design elements and details in the form itself that provide a distinctive character to this house. Since we don't have much space on either side of the house, these areas were designed very carefully to utilize these spaces, like this seating beside the dining area shown in the image above. It provides a nice area to seat and have some tea or coffee in the open pocket garden of a sort.
